Foot and Ankle Disorders in Classical Ballet Dancers



Abstract
Classical Ballet dance is an art as well as a kind of sport in a view point of repeated movement of the body. For the ballet dancer, it is essential to overuse the ankle and the foot because of the standardized motion which is very stressful for
the
joint. Usually, ballet dancers have so many foot ankle problems. Seventy eight(78%) professional & student ballet dancers were evaluated at the author's clinic from the March 1994 to March 1995.
Among the sixty-fort foot problems, the achilles tendinitis were most frequent(fourteen cases0 and among fifty-two ankle problems, posterior impingement syndrome were most frequent(sixteen cases).
